Woodborough’s Heritage
Woodborough, a Sherwood Forest Village, recorded in Domesday
Village Maypole
A maypole was erected sometime in the 1970’s by Costains who built the Smalls Croft estate. It was removed in 1990 due to the base rotting and therefore becoming a danger to members of the public. There was a report at the time that there were no plans to replace it.
Photo left shows the maypole with Holme Close beyond
Right, this 1974 plan is marked with the maypole’s position and shows it relative to both Smalls Croft and Holme Close
